With World Food Day, October 16, 2017, being just around the corner, and restaurant prices (always) rising, WalletHub, the personal-finance website, recently released its report on 2017’s Best Foodie Cities in America
To determine the best and most reasonably priced local foodie scenes, WalletHub compared more than 180 of the largest U.S. cites across 24 key metrics. The data set ranges from affordability and accessibility of high-quality restaurants to food festivals per capita to craft breweries and wineries per capita.
Top 20 Foodie Cities in America:

As noted, Philadelphia finished 14th. Pittsburgh, PA, was rated 21st, just below Cincinnati.
Here’s a surprise… Richmond, VA, was rated 27th, Salt Lake City, UT, 33rd and Cleveland, OH, 38th… all ahead of Boston, MA, which was rated 40th.
Other high rankings: Baltimore, MD, 54; New Orleans, LA, 56; and Boise, ID, 61. I understand that Boise has quite the restaurant scene.
Philadelphia & Pittsburgh were the only Pennsylvania cities in the rankings. Also close to home… Wilmington, DE, was ranked 75 and Dover, DE at 132… And two New Jersey cities were quite highly rated: Jersey City, NJ, at 76 and Newark, NJ at 79.
