Gino’s Ristorante & Pizzeria, 2401 West Main Street (Ridge Pike) Norristown, Pennsylvania, (610) 539-0155, www.myginos.com

Geno's - Eggplant ParmI first reviewed Gino’s in February 2012; and my wife and I have returned numerous times since. A family owned and operated restaurant for over 40 years, the food here is uncompromisingly southern Italian. If you lust after red sauce, this is your Neapolitan Nirvana. To go along with the more-than-reasonable prices, the portion sizes border on the gargantuan (just check out the eggplant parm & side of spaghetti); so unless you happen to have the appetite of a ravening hyena, doggy bags are de rigueur.

Gino’s dining area borders on the utilitarian; but the room is bright & airy and the tables & chairs comfortable & nicely spaced. If you’re looking for a bit more privacy, try to snare one of the booths along the interior wall.

Gino’s loyal clientele is an eclectic mix – couples, families, a gaggle from the local retirement community, parties large & small – and the majority of patrons have a bottle of wine in tow (the restaurant is BYOB). Good food deserves the accompaniment of good wine, and diners here are knowledgeable enough to respond appropriately… And that’s always a positive sign.

Geno's - InteriorIf you happen to stop by on the first Thursday of the month, you’ll be treated to a gentleman tickling the (electronic) ivories and crooning out Italian favorites.

Bon Appétit!
