Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, New Jersey, will be hosting a foraging trip & dinner on Sunday, August 16, 2015, and an Angry Erik Brewery Dinner on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Both events include dinner in the Chef’s Garden, a wood-fire outdoor restaurant surrounded by a lush one-acre organic garden.
Crystal Springs’ Chef Anthony Bucco works closely with Sussex County foragers Sarah Berman and Corey Finck, who deliver a bounty of locally foraged items to the resort’s 4-star Restaurant Latour twice a week. On August 16, 2015, guests will have the rare opportunity to join them on a foraging expedition followed by dinner at Chef’s Garden.
Sarah & Corey have revitalized the six-acre organic Armstrong Farm in Wantage, NJ, which allows them to forage on the property as well as the surrounding mountains. Upon returning to the Chef’s Garden, guests will enjoy cocktails and canapés utilizing ingredients foraged on the trip, followed by a four-course dinner by Chef Bucco paired with local wines. The menu is noted below…
Chanterelles… NJ Corn… Basil
Lubina… Plankton… Purslane
Mangalitsa Pig… Wood Sorel… Stone Fruit
Chocolate… Anise Hyssop… Wine Berries
The cost of the foraging trip & dinner is $115.00 per person, including food, wine, and transportation (tax & gratuity additional). The foraging trip begins at 4:00 p.m.; dinner at 7:00 p.m. Reservations may be made by calling (855) 977-6473.
On August 20, 2015, Crystal Springs will feature the beers of Angry Erik Brewing in the Chef’s Garden at the “When We Were Kings” dinner. Founded by Erik Hassing, an attorney, and his chemist wife, Heide Hassing, in Lafayette, New Jersey, in March 2014, Angry Erik has been making waves on the New Jersey craft beer scene with distinctive brews, both traditional in style and made with unusual ingredients. The dinner will feature seven different beers, including The Dainty Viking, an elderflower blonde ale; Hop-n-Awe IPA; and Mary Shroom, a mushroom & rosemary saison.
