On Sunday, August 17, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m., Chef Chad Vetter and Beer Steward Andy Farrell will host their 5th Annual CrabFest at City Tap House, the Radian Balcony, 3925 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA.
The event will feature all-you-can-eat blue crabs, served with corn on the cob and potatoes, crab boil-style, plus beer specials from New Jersey’s Carton Brewing Company. There will also be live music, courtesy of Delaware’s Cassidy & Barely Rarely.
“Nothing says ‘summer’ like a good old-fashioned crab boil, and our annual CrabFest has become one of our signature beer and food events,” notes Chef Vetter. “We can’t wait to roll out the brown butcher paper, gather around the table, and get down and dirty with some crabs and beers.”
CrabFest will feature several beers from Carton Brewing, including: The Wit Whale, a wheat beer-pilsner hybrid brewed with lemon-y Sorachi Ace hops and grassy summer hops to complement seasonal shellfish dishes; Panzanella, a salted ale with bread-y malt, garlic-y Summit hops and Tomatoes and cucumbers to emulate the flavors of the classic Italian bread salad; and Carton Canyon, an agave-infused lager with smoky round notes and tropical sweetness from papaya.
Tickets are just $35.00 per person, including tax & gratuity, and reservations are strongly recommended. For more information, or to secure a seat, please call (215) 662-0105.
With extensive open-air seating on two terraces, and a row of five stone fire pits overlooking Walnut Street combined with the rich, rustic feel of a mountain lodge, City Tap House is one of the city’s most popular food-and-beer destinations. It is located on the second level of The Radian, a pristine landmark building just steps from the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. Their ongoing series of beer-focused events and ever-evolving menu have kept them at the forefront of craft beer bars in the city; and, in September, they will debut a second location, City Tap House Logan Square.
City Tap House serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, and brunch every Saturday and Sunday. For more information, please call (215) 662-0105, or visit www.citytaphouse.com.
