The Wine Spectator, the prominent national lifestyle magazine and online resource that specializes in wine information & wine culture has recognized The Manor Restaurant, West Orange, New Jersey, with its coveted “Best of Award of Excellence” for 2013.
Wine Spectator judges evaluate the wine lists of dining establishments and acknowledge those whose wine lists “offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine, and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.”
To receive special recognition for the “Best of Award of Excellence,” The Manor had to meet or exceed several requirements. These included a wine list that is “superior in presentation” and one that displays either “vintage depth with several vertical offerings of top wines, or excellent breadth across several wine regions.” Recipients of this award also typically offer 400 or more selections. The Manor’s wine list showcases well in excess of 800 different wine choices.
The restaurant’s international list ranges from traditional wine regions to carefully-chosen bottles sourced from emerging producers. Guests can find domestic wine makers as well as wide-ranging selections from the Old and New World, including Germany, Italy, Argentina, and Chile. Guests perusing The Manor’s wine list will find selections culled from countries as far afield as New Zealand and Portugal to Greece and Israel. Wine Spectator judges noted The Manor’s particular strengths in the wines of California and France.
General Manager and Wine Director Michael Cammarano has utilized his over three decades of experience at The Manor to finely tune its expansive wine collection, ensuring that the range of offerings reflects both the quality and style of the cuisine as well as the preferences of the restaurant’s loyal patrons. Under Mr. Cammarano’s supervision, The Manor has continued its streak of annual Wine Spectator award recognitions since 1984.
