On the first Sunday of each month, Restaurant Latour Sommelier Susanne Lerescu conducts interesting and informative wine education seminars. The seminars are held within Crystal Springs Resort’s seven-time Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning cellar, which boasts over 135,000 of the world’s finest bottles.
The two hour seminars include a class, tasting, and tour of the cellar, while Ms. Lerescu shares her knowledge and personal experiences about wine. “The interesting part about these tastings is the intellectual education,” Ms. Lerescu noted. “You don’t really have to learn, you just want to. The people that come here come because they love wine.
Every month has a different theme, depending on what Ms. Lerescu wants to showcase from the resort’s extensive wine list. She tries to alternate between highlighting a general region and a specific characteristic. In February, for instance, it was Amarone, produced in Valpolicella, an area just outside of Verona, Italy. The next class, scheduled for March 3rd, on the other hand, will focus on the Zinfandel grape.
A selection of cheeses, nuts crackers, and chocolates are provided during each seminar to note how flavors change when paired with wine. Following the seminar, bottles are also available for purchase at wholesale prices plus a 15% discount.
As noted above, wine education seminars are held on the first Sunday of every month. The next seminar is scheduled for March 3rd and will discuss the Zinfandel grape. The cost is $35.00 for social members and $40.00 for the public. To register, please call (973) 827-5996, ext. 3.
