On Monday, October 8th, Lake Isle Press will release The Latin Road Home, the second cookbook from Iron Chef and James Beard Award winner Chef José Garces.

The Latin Road Home ($35.00 hardcover) is at once a cookbook, a travelogue, and a memoir, offering a fascinating and personal look back at the food traditions that have shaped the Chef’s life and his cooking – from his family’s ancestral home in Ecuador to his ongoing work as an award winning chef and restaurateur in the United States.

To celebrate, Chef Garces will prepare and serve a special Latin Road Home Dinner at JG Domestic, 2929 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9th.

The menu will feature dishes from each of the book’s five chapters – Ecuador, Spain, Cuba, Mexico, and Peru – at stations throughout the restaurant, each manned by members of Chef Garces’ culinary team. Favorite dishes from the cookbook will include: Empanada Bar (Ecuador), where the stuffed pastries will be fried fresh to order; Lechén Asado (Cuba), achiote and citrus-marinated roast suckling pig with traditional accompaniments such as moros y cristianos, black beans and rice, and tostones, fried sweet plantains; Taco Bar (Mexico), including poached chicken ropa vieja and rajas con hongos, roasted poblano peppers with mushrooms, onions, and garlic; Ceviche Bar (Peru), including ceviche de corvine with leche de tigre and pickled red pearl onions and ceviche de pargo con salsa de maracuyá, pink snapper ceviche with passion fruit, citrus and fresno chiles; Interactive Dessert Bar (Spain). Featured cocktails from the book will be Margarita de Mango (Mexico) and Sangria de Tinto (Spain).

Reservations for this special event are required, as this once-in-a-lifetime meal is expected to see out quickly. To purchase tickets, please visit http://garcesgroup.com/the-latin-road-home.
