Chakra Restaurant Hosts Cakebread Cellars Wine Dinner

On Monday, October 1st, 6:30 p.m., Chakra Restaurant in Paramus, New Jersey, will host another in its series of popular wine dinners. Featured at this event will be the excellent vintages of Cakebread Wine Cellars, Napa Valley, CA. Joining Chef Thomas Ciszak in the kitchen will be guest chef of the evening, Kevin Takafuji of Blue Morel Restaurant & Bar, Morristown, NJ.

Reception: Alaskan King Crab, Drawn Pumpkin Seed Butter; Wine: Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, 2011 (88% Sauvignon Blanc, 8% Semillion, 4% Sauvignon Musque)

First Course: Day Boat Scallops, Vanilla-Scented Pumpkin, Spiced Apples & Pear, Nutmeg Foam; Wine: Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay, 2010

Second Course (prepared by Chef Kevin Takafuji): Seared Yellowfin Tuna, Red Kuri Squash, Chestnut, Crisp Duck Confit, Purple Kale, Pickled Swiss Chard; Wine: Cakebread Cellars Merlot, 2009

Third Course: Leg of Lamb, Figs & Radicchio wrapped in Applewood Smoked Bacon, Goat Cheese Polenta; Wine: Cakebread Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 (76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot)

Dessert Course: Shepherd’s Basket, Fig & Walnut Mostarda, Olive Toast; Wine: Taylor Fladgate Port, 2009

The cost of the Cakebread Cellars wine dinner is $120.00 per person (plus tax & gratuity). All wines will be served as 2.5-ounce tasting portions; and will be available by the 6-ounce glass for an additional cost. All wines tasted will also be available for purchase.
