With the coming of fall and the onslaught of, hopefully, cooler temperatures, red wines generally become more popular among lovers of the fruit of the vine. And the 2008 Bodegas Dios Ares Crianza Rioja gives you a lot to love.
Produced entirely from the tempranillo grape and aged 12 months in French & American oak, this is an incredibly appealing wine. It beguiles the palate with spicy nuances of ripe fruit that carry through to a long, lingering aftertaste. There is power here (14% alcohol), to be sure… but also finesse. This is an elegant, perfectly balanced, and downright sexy wine that simply tantalizes the senses. No wonder wine guru Robert Parker bestowed a hefty 90 points (out of 100) upon this vintage. Mr. Parker also noted that it possessed enough structural backbone to drink well into the year 2020.
And if the aforementioned items aren’t enough to tempt you, the price factor should be the clincher. The 2008 Bodegas Dios Ares normally retails for around $22.00; but I have seen it on sale for as low as $10.00. Given this wine’s outstanding quality, trust me, bargains like this do not come along every day. Catch it while you can.
Cheers!
