New Jersey’s Alba Vineyard Continues Its Winning Ways

albavineyard2Alba Vineyard, Village of Finesville, Milford, New Jersey, continues to put the Garden State on the national and international wine map by scoring double gold, gold & silver medals at three of the longest running, prestigious wine competitions.

 

At the 201 New Jersey Wine Competition held at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension in Cream Ridge, NJ, six five-judge panels sampled over 300 wines submitted by 28 wineries. Alba Vineyard won medals for all 17 wines it entered – the most medals of all the wineries in the competition – including the award of two out of the three Governor’s Cups. Alba’s 2010 Gewürztraminer was awarded the prestigious Governor’s Cup as the best wine in New Jersey, as well as the best estate vinifera; and its apple dessert wine earned the Governor’s Cup as the best fruit wine in the Garden State.

 

The 72nd L.A. International Wine Competition received 3,117 entries from 913 wineries worldwide. Alba’s 2008 Chambourcin earned a best of class gold medal with 92 points, while its Dolcina Ice Dessert Wine and Red Raspberry Wine were awarded silver medals.

 

Tasters Guild 24th International Wine Judging was held at the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There were over 2,500 wines entered from 11 countries; and Alba Vineyard’s 2008 Heritage Cabernet Franc brought home a distinguished double gold medal. Gold medals were bestowed for Alba’s 2008 Chambourcin and Forbidden Ice Apple Wine, and silver medals were awarded for its 2009 Dry Riesling and Red Raspberry Dessert Wine.

 

The San Diego International Wine Competition, now in its 28th year, is one of the longest running competitions in the United States. This year’s competition featured judges from all walks of the wine industry and received 1,666 entries from around the world. Alba’s 2008 Chambourcin garnered a gold medal, while its 2009 Dry Riesling, Forbidden Ice Apple Wine, and Red Raspberry Dessert Wine received silver medals.

 

At the 30th annual Riverside International Wine Competition, a total of 48 judges evaluated more than 1,930 wines at South Coast Resort in Temecula, California. Alba’s 2009 Dry Riesling earned a gold medal; its 2008 Chambourcin and Dolcina Ice Dessert Wine brought back silver medals, and its 2008 Heritage Cabernet Franc won a bronze medal.
