This year was the biggest of the competition’s 11-year history with 788 wineries entered from 19 different countries. This event is the largest charitable wine competition in North America.

Alba Vineyard, the Garden State’s largest winery, won medals for all seven it entered into the competition. Alba led all New Jersey wineries, winning two Double Gold for their 2008 Chambourcin and Ice Apple Wine, “Forbidden,” both scoring the highest of any wines in their class. Alba’s 2009 Estate Riesling, a perennial award winner, won Gold, and their 2009 Dry Riesling, 2009 Gewürztraminer, 2008 Heritage Cabernet Franc, and Red Raspberry dessert wines all won Silver.
