Amanti Vino in Montclair, New Jersey will be hosting two fun, romantic classes just in time for Valentine’s Day. On Friday, February 11th, 7:00 p.m., Susan Fine, proprietor of The Chocolate Path in Montclair, will lead a tasting of dark chocolates from around the world, while Amanti Vino GM, Will Sugerman, will pour deep reds and luscious dessert wines. The cost is $45.00 per person. On Saturday, February 12th, 4:00 p.m. guests are invited to sample a variety of pink wines, including some bubbly, through a spectrum of pink, orange, and salmon. On Monday, February 14th, Avenue in Long Branch, New Jersey, will be offering a four-course prix-fixe menu that will match the restaurant’s spectacular oceanfront view. Menu highlights include: Gougéres and Truffled Goat Cheese Mousse; “Smoking” Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare; Jerusalem Artichoke Soup with Fresh Black Truffles; Pan-Seared Foie Gras; Grilled Australian Lamb Chops; Wild Mushrooms and Tempeh Fricassee; and Chef Fioni’s Chocolate Lover’s Sampler. During Valentine’s weekend, Friday, February 11th – Monday, February 14th, Boulevard Five 72 in Kenilworth, New Jersey, will be offering chef/proprietor Scott Snyder’s sophisticated fare: both his à la carte menu and a special four-course prix-fixe. Highlights include: Seared Day Boat Scallop with Celery Root Dumplings; Maine Lobster Agnolotti; Porcini Risotto with Winter Black Truffle; Pistachio-Crusted Colorado Lamb Chop; Roasted California Squab with Caraway Cabbage; Raspberry & Passion Fruit Bombe; and Dark Des Alpes Chocolate Mousse. Chakra in Paramus, New Jersey, will be celebrating Valentine’s weekend from Saturday, February 12th – Monday, February 14th, with executive chef/partner Thomas Ciszak four-course “greatest hits” prix-fixe menu. Dinner menu selections include: Parma Ham Roll; Oysters on the Half Shell; Caesar Salad; Tuna Tartare; Charcuterie Selection; Shrimp Cocktail Trio; Horseradish Crab Cake; Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras; Sage-Crusted Atlantic Salmon; Surf & Turf; Goffle Road Chicken; Vegetarian Eggplant Tart; White Chocolate-Raspberry Angel Food Cake; and Chocolate Devil’s Food Cake. Sunday’s three-course “Lover’s Brunch” includes a complimentary glass of Champagne as well as “Super Fruits” Parfait; Orange-Cured Salmon; Crab Cake Benedict; Grand Marnier Brioche French Toast; Rigatoni Ragu with Short Ribs and Steak & Eggs.
