On Wednesday, August 11th, 7:00 p.m., Restaurant Serenade in Chatham, New Jersey, will celebrate the Garden State’s tomato season with their annual “Tomato Extravaganza Dinner.” The celebration will continue with Serenade’s tomato tasting menu, which will be available from Thursday, August 12th, through September.
The menu will feature a bounty of tomatoes – including Green Zebra, Sweet 100s, German Stripe, and Oxford – from such well known local farms as Melicks’ Town Farm (Oldwick, NJ), Oak Grove Plantation (Pittstown, NJ), and Eckerton Hill (Hamburg, PA), as well as from Chef James Laird’s own half-acre garden.
The five-course menu will also be paired with appropriate wines. Tomato grower Peter Melick of Melicks Town Farm will be on hand to talk about tomato varieties and answer any questions with Chef James Laird.
