Palmina Wines Wine Dinner at Blue Bottle Cafe

blue-bottle-cafeOn Tuesday, March 9th, 7:00 p.m., CoolVines and Willette Wine Importers will host a special wine dinner at the Blue Bottle Café, 101 East Broad Street, Hopewell, New Jersey, featuring the vintages of Palmina Vineyards.

 

Doug Salthouse of Willette Wines will be on hand to introduce Steve Clifton, winemaker /owner of Palmina, who will present and discuss each of his wines between courses.

 

Here’s a look-see at the menu and suggested wine pairings…

 

First Course:

Arugula, Belgian Endive, Mango, Serrano Ham, Marcona Almonds, Roasted Shallot-Sherry Vinaigrette

OR

Jail Island Salmon Tartare with Cucumber, Capers, Red Onion, and Lemon-Tahini Vinaigrette

Wine: Brewer-Clifton Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay, 2008

 

Second Course:

House-Made Potato Gnocchi with Sautéed Mushrooms, Red Onions, Spinach, and Truffle-Sherry Vinaigrette

OR

Pan-Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras with Five Spice Pain Perdu, and Molasses-Blood orange Reduction

Wine: Palmina Dolcetto, Santa Barbara County, 2008

 

Third Course:

Pan-Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Soft Polenta, Escarole, Red Onion, Gaeta Olives, and Tomato-Fennel Broth

OR

Day Boat Sea Scallops with Black-Eyed Peas, Turnips, Cremini & Maiitake Mushrooms, Leeks, Pancetta, and Red Wine Reduction

Wine: Palmina Barbera, Santa Barbara County, 2007

 

Fourth Course:

Roasted Breast of Long Island Duckling with Corned Duck & Sweet Potato Hash, Quince Chutney, and Duck Jus

OR

Crepinette of Braised Lamb Shank with Roasted Garlic Spaetzle, Grilled Eggplant, and Natural Reduction

Wine: Palmina Nebbiolo, Santa Barbara County, 2005

 

Fifth Course:

Caramelized Walnut Tart with Brandied Cherries, and Bleu Cheese

OR

Smores Chocolate Tart with Chocolate-Chile Ice Cream

Wine: Sangiovese Passito “Osare”
