On Saturday, March 6th, 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., the Reading Company Technical and Historical Society will hold its annual banquet at Columbia Station, 4 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
Guests are invited to join in the food and fellowship hosted in the exquisitely restored Reading Company Phoenixville Station. The evening will feature a catered meal reminiscent of the best railroad dining car cuisine; and the keynote speaker for the evening will be Mr. James Porterfield, author of Dining by Rail and other railroad-related works. Mr. Porterfield humorously calls his presentation “From Soot to Soufflés – a History of Railroad Dining with Recipes.” In addition, door prizes and a silent auction will be held. In keeping with the “dining car” theme, proceeds will be used for the restoration of Reading Company’s “Schuykill” Café Car #2060.
Here’s a look-see at the buffet menu (with the exception of the rice pilaf, all recipes have been selected from the aforementioned Dining by Rail)…
