This coming Tuesday, November 24, 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., hundreds of budding artists, grades 1-4, from 14 Jersey City Schools will convene at Liberty House Restaurant for the Sixth Annual Snowflake Awards, the annual tree trimming contest for Jersey City, NJ, school children.
Schools participating in the Snowflake Awards are asked to make tree decorations that students feel best represent their school, community, or special interests; and they will compete for donations to their schools’ art departments. All children go home with a special goody bag; and all trees will remain on display the entire Holiday Season.
Liberty House provides trees and lunch, as well as a monetary donation to the winning schools as determined by celebrity judges, including Chenoa Greene (Miss New Jersey USA 2010), James Gregorio (News 12 NJ), and Broadway star Constantine Maroulis.
The contest is sponsored by the restaurant’s corporate giving program, “Help Us Give” (H.U.G.), which donates 10% of sales from Liberty House’s three most popular tables to fund local charitable causes that positively impact quality of life in the community.
Located on the Jersey City waterfront with spectacular views of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, Liberty House offers an unparalleled dramatic backdrop for still or video reporting.
