xochitlFrom October 27 until November 1, Xochitl, Philly’s award-winning authentic Mexican restaurant, will serve a special De Los Muertos, “Day of the Dead” menu, a four-course prix-fixe dinner priced at just $35.00 per person (excluding tax, beverages, and gratuity).  This festive celebration of the Halloween season has become an eagerly anticipated annual tradition, thanks to Chef Dionicio Jimenez’s much-lauded Mexican cuisine and innovative interpretations of traditional fare.

Menu options will include…

Pozole de Conejo: Rabbit Soup with Hominy, Lime, and Oregano

Escabeche de Guajalote: Turkey Escabeche with Cauliflower, Carrot, and Cabbage

Enchiladas de Mole con Puerco del Istmo: Pork and Red Mole Enchiladas with Potatoes, Plantains, Capers, and Raisins

Calabasitas Rellenas: Stuffed Pumpkin with Panela Cheese and Tomato

Crepas de Platano Macho: Fried Plantain Crepes with Caramelized Milk

Dia de los Muertos celebrations traditionally take place throughout Mexico and Latin America to commemorate the Catholic holiday of All Saint’s Day, and focus on gatherings of friends and family to pray for and remember relatives who have passed away, often with elaborate feasts.

Named the city’s best “Modern Mexican” by Philadelphia Magazine (August 2009) and one of the nation’s top 10 Mexican restaurants by Bon Appétit (March 2008), Xochitl’s comfortable, stylish dining room and lounge make it one of Philadelphia’s premiere dining destinations.

The restaurant is located at 408 South 2nd Street. For more information, or to make reservations, please call (215) 238-7280.

Bon Appétit!
