Just before Thanksgiving, the Collingswood Farmers’ Market will bundle up for the season that has been a banner year for the small town market. “This year the Farmers’ Market won best small town farmers’ market in the entire country. That’s an enormous achievement and no one could be more deserving of it than our farmers,” noted chef/proprietor Mark Smith of Collingswood’s The Tortilla Press.
And to celebrate the end of the growing season, Chef Smith will hold a special “Harvest Dinner” at his popular restaurant; and the dinner will feature a menu utilizing produce and fruits from local farms. The “Harvest Dinner” will run from this coming Sunday, October 18 through October 23, and will offer 4 courses for $30.00 per person.
But Chef Smith wanted to shine a spotlight on the farmers themselves, as well as their harvest. “Each day we’ll feature a farmer at a special “Chef’s Table,” he explained. “We’ll serve their meal family style and give everyone a chance to rub elbows with the people who’ve made the meal possible with their food.” The menu will also offer gluten free and vegetarian alternatives.
The Chef’s Table will feature…
Monday, October 19: John Hurff, Schober Orchards
Tuesday, October 20: Stephanie Viereck, Viereck Farms
Wednesday, October 21: John Ebert, Springdale Farms
Thursday, October 22: Keven Flaim, Flaim Farms
Reservations are being taken for the Chef’s Table seating as well as regular seating by calling (856) 869-3345.
