The East Coast Food & Wine Festival, produced by Slow Food Central Jersey and the Estate Wine Growers of New Jersey, will be held on Saturday & Sunday, June 27th & 28th, 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., at Hopewell Valley Vineyards, 46 Yard Road, Pennington, New Jersey.
The festival is a wonderful opportunity to sample dishes from some of the Garden State’s best restaurants. This year’s participants include Brothers Moon in Hopewell, Catherine Lombardi’s in New Brunswick, High Street Grill in Mt. Holly, Nomad Pizza in Hopewell, Stage Left in New Brunswick, and Tre Piani in Princeton.
Attendees will be able to purchase either a small portion (so they can sample food from each restaurant), or a larger portion, should they become enamored with one particular offering. They will also be able to pair the food with the award-winning wines from Hopewell Valley Vineyards, Alba Vineyard, Unionville Vineyards, Cape May Winery, and Laurita Vineyards.
Another popular feature of the Slow Food & Wine Festival is the Farmer’s Market, where attendees can purchase locally made cheeses, salami, organic produce, honey, meats, seafood, fresh breads, gelato, flowers, and much more – all grown and/or produced in the Garden State – to enjoy at the festival or to take home.
This year’s event includes numerous seminars and cooking demonstrations. Already confirmed speakers include Chef Michael Colameco, host of Colameco’s Food Show on PBS and Food Talk on WOR, author of the soon-to-be-released Food Lovers Guide to New York City; Maureen Petrosky, wine expert on the TODAY Show, wine writer for New Jersey Life and author of the Wine Club; and George Taber, author of Judgment in Paris. In addition, there will also be cookbook authors, seminars on organic farming, bee keeping and honey making, cheese making demonstrations, wine seminars, and wine tours.
Tickets are now on sale at www.slowfoodandwinefestival.com and are $35.00, $40.00 at the door; $55.00 for a two day ticket, $60.00 at the door. Tickets include parking, wine tasting, entrance into all the seminars and cooking demos, winery tours, and an etched wine glass. Food is available at a nominal fee. For additional information, click on the above website or call (609) 890-8188.
A portion of the proceeds benefit Share Our Strength, which fights childhood hunger. The festival is sponsored in part by the New Jersey Department of Travel & Tourism and Wegman’s Wine & Spirits.
