Proprietors Jim and Lisa McCoy’s Mercersburg Inn in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, is always the perfect spot for a gastronomically-inspired romantic weekend getaway. Constructed in 1910 as a private home for Harry Byron and his family, this lovely old inn boasts a slate roof, Indiana limestone sills, copper spouting, decorative tile, white oak and inlaid flooring, double curving wrought iron balustrades, and rich mahogany and chestnut paneling.
Dinner is served at the Inn Thursday – Sunday in Byron’s Dining room; and Chef Dan Nowalk does an incredible job of thoroughly beguiling the palates of visitors and locals alike. On Saturday, March 14th, however, conscientious diners will have yet another reason to check out the Inn’s charms – another in the ever-popular series of International Wine and Food Weekends. This one will highlight the wines and cuisine of Tuscany.
In the afternoon, beginning at 2:00 p.m., led by culinary guide Dick Bostwick, guests will be sampling seven (7) fine wines from the Tuscan region of Italy. In the evening, at 8:00 p.m., there will be a 5-course Tuscan dinner with wine pairings, a collaboration of Mr. Bostwick and Chef Dan Nowalk.
Here’s a look at the menu and wine pairings…

Art,
thanks for the great review and the “plug” for the Tuscany Wine and Food Weekend. It was so successful we added Argentina/Chile, Australia/New Zealand and of course France. The fellow that does the wine weekends is a pretty good cook so he will aso be doing Italian cooking classed.
Hope to see you here again.
thanks,
Jim
